Join Me in Supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
I'm walking in the Out of the Darkness Fairfax Walk to fight suicide and support AFSP's bold goal to reduce the suicide rate 20% by 2025.
I've experienced some of the dark days of depression personally, albeit cyclical/seasonal, and battle anxiety daily. But I have been fortunate in my fight. I began seeing a psychiatrist in the fall of 2018 and a therapist in the winter. Working in concert, we have found a cocktail of medications that have allowed me to slow the racing thoughts, to prevent the black hole that opens in my chest during a panic attack, and to sleep again. We are beginning to work through the anxieties that have kept me from feeling human, but it's an uphill battle that will take time to win.
I walk to help others. Those that don't have help. That may feel like help isn't available to them. Those that are afraid to ask for it. My goal is to raise at least $500 for this cause. You can help by making a donation. Every little bit helps. That Starbucks you thought about getting, the dollar you got as change from the beer you had at the bar, even the change on the floorboards of your car. If you can, please click the link below to throw your two cents into the fight. It will always be welcome.
All donations are 100% tax deductible and benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), funding research, education, advocacy, and support for those affected by suicide.
