Portsmouth Walk

Support Team Chio - WOKQ as we walk to fight suicide in the Out of the Darkness Portsmouth Walk.

Chio Acosta and WOKQ are joining the community of nearly 250k people walking in hundreds of cities across the country in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.

Chio is walking in the Out of the Darkness Portsmouth Walk to fight suicide and support AFSP's bold goal to reduce the suicide rate 20% by 2025.

"I’m a father and husband. I love being a DJ and being with great people. I also suffer from anxiety and depression.

Activities like the Out of The Darkness Walk are so critical. We need to get more people talking about mental illness & suicide prevention, and it all starts with awareness.

A few years ago, one of my very best friends died by suicide, and no one even knew he was struggling.

I believe everyone has come in contact with depression and/or suicide at some point in their life whether they realize it or not, however because it’s an invisible injury, it doesn’t get the respect or treatment it deserves.

It’s sad, that as a society, we don’t talk about suicide and prevention and I believe it’s time for that to change!

This is why I feel so strongly about supporting the Portsmouth Out of the Darkness Walk and look forward to participating myself and start talking about ."
