We are joining the community of nearly 250k people walking in hundreds of cities across the country in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.
This year, team captain Ashley wanted to create a name in remembrance of her mother Sherra (5/22-59-7/28/09), Aunt Ann (6/5/63-7/19/95), and newly deceased Uncle Billy (9/8/1964-5/22/17) while looking towards the future with hope for others. This name was suggested by her dear friend Erin and carries significance in the following ways:
-Never forgetting why we walk or the loved ones who have died by suicide.
- Forget-Me-Nots are often blue in color (but not always!); blue is Ashley's mother's favorite color and the color of the AFSP. Additionally, people often choose to end their lives when feeling "blue".
-A beautiful and sweet reminder of those we've lost, and signifying hope for the future as each season changes and the flowers come and go.
